PG-13 Rated Horror Films
Have you noticed recently that the majority of horror films you see advertised today are rated PG-13? I know for a fact that the majority of the videos watched on my accounts are combat sports, graphic documentaries about war, politics, or serial killers (all the same thing if you ask me) so why am I bombarded with trailers for kids being haunted by an imaginary friend? Maybe I’m overreacting or maybe my algorithm is manipulating me. It pisses me off either way.
Recently I created a tiktok account to try to share my passion for poems and spoken word poetry. When I first created my account, all I saw was videos of young ladies doing dances in their bathrooms. Not until recently did I know you could ask to not be shown content like that anymore. I know it’s common knowledge now that sexual deviancy runs our society and how they are to slowly normalizing it but, not until then did I notice how blatantly “in your face” it all is. I’ve been called an “oldhead” by people because of some references I don’t catch or some phrases I use but if I’m going to be exposed to a lot of wicked content like that, I would rather take my time exploring all these toys we are given.
A couple years ago I was hospitalized to where I was forced to stay overnight a couple days. I am blessed to not have been terriblly injured but the whole incident was so surreal that it took me on a journey which took four internet years to search for the answer as to how I ended up on that hospital bed.
It took me to all types of videos of lectures on trauma and the dark side of our inner child. I spent hours, days, weeks watching Soft White Underbelly videos, films based on extreme, aggressive men, police bodycam and interrogation footage of serial killers, mass shooters, and child abusers. I read books on philosophy and lonely men. I read up on the worst kind of scientific experimentation ever done (usually during times of war.) I was so intrigued by the question of what makes someone so extreme? Plausibly, fractionally could be because of how I was raised but hey.. we don’t gotta go there today.
These internet-black holes led to even denser, danker, dark holes where I caught just a glimpse behind the curtain. How strings are pulled above us to dictate how we react to essentially everything. I got some info on the dark web, the silk web, how billionaires/drug dealers wash their money, historical genocides which were never fully exposed: in Rwanda, the Soviet Union, Chinese mining companies. This was all during the dawn of the COVID era. I saw, in real time, how my entire generation accepted the narrative whole-heartedly even as the story was proven hypocritical time and time again. Right at the same time, jeffrey epstein is given the spotlight for what seemed like a month maximum. His crimes entailed sins I could not wrap my head around. We are left with only the footprints he left. No endictments, no convictions, no head under the guillotine. Major heads of our culture are falling like dominoes, all is being exposed yet nothing is done.
What I learned was that the real horrors of our world, are nothing like what these PG-13 rated, shitshows of a horror film depict today. I understand films try to shoot for a PG-13 rating because it allows them to advertise to more audiences but all that tells me is they are watering down the product to be able to sell it to kids. Why are we trying sell HORROR to kids? I hate all of it. If were doing horror films, we need trauma. I am still scared of fields of corn from watching Jeepers Creepers as a kid. If a field of corn is seen, I’ll be doing everything I can to get away from it. If we are scaring our children shouldn’t it at least be a “Scared Straight” type of situation where they at least learn a lesson? I am sitting here looking at IMDB’s list of best rated PG-13 horror films and all the best ones are from 20 years ago. “Jaws, The Sixth Sense, Ring” are listed at the top and they have nothing to do with what we should actually be scared of. Nothing about the horrors of child abuse, or how thousands of lives are destroyed by the stroke of a pen by some man in a suit.
Don’t water yourself down just to be advertised for kids. If you don’t want to be around kids, don’t be around them. Educate yourself before you try to tell someone else how to live their life. Once you start to see how and why the news cycle shifts with the social zeitgeist, you will begin to ask questions and hopefully, you can see for yourself. One thing you will see for sure, is these PG-rated horror movies are an abomination of our culture and they must not continue on. You want to be scared? Spend a couple hours on a reddit covering war, watch videos of Wendy Williams being ushered away by men in suits as she looks as manic as Mel Gibson on coke.
Nothing is scarier than that bottomless, black hole inside of me and you. You should go and get to searching.
